I'm not really feeling this project very much, not sure I'll get a good mark for it but i am going to try really hard from now on and try to concentrate!

Crits in!!
I got my critical studies essay in this morning, it feels like a massive weight has been lifted! Essay writing is really not my thing but i'm sure i've done OK i guess. (Even with a massive hangover...oh the joys of being a first year) I actually enjoyed the content of the essay, its just the writing, the referencing, the spell checking, grammar etc that i don't like!

Alexander McQueen interview
So...I had my Alexander McQueen interview yesterday, and i feel really let down by it! the woman was horrible who interviewed me, which was a shame because everyone else who worked there, and the other people being interviewed were really nice. But it has reminded me how tough the fashion business is! I like to take something positive away with me from everything i do, and i see the interview a really good practice! the lady who interviewed me (Holly) said she would let me know within a week wether or not i have a placement, but even if i don't, i have a place with Lena Santana (which i have a feeling i will actually get more out of doing a placement with her, i think i will have more responsibility, and wont be just shadowing her working, as i probably would working at Alexander McQueen)
I absolutely loved Alexander McQueen's studios though, sooooo many gorgeous gowns around, being worked on ect. I must admit i will be a BIT gutted if she doesn't call me back, it would be ace to work for such a well known designer...and it would look amazing on my CV.

London town
Well, yesterday i went to London for the 1st two of my three interviews, and they went really really well!
There were a lot of people waiting for a FELDER FELDER interview when i got there too, there was obviously a lot of people that had applied, i think i did well though, although they didn't seem too keen on that i was a first year, although i hope i showed them i was still up for the job! They said they would let me know within a week if i was successful.
The second interview went even better (even if i did get lost on the way there) She offered me a place on the spot!!!!! which was very nice. She was also a loverly woman and said that i could pick and choose the dates i want to work between, and i could work part or full time, which is good because i think i would need another job at the same time that actually pays, so that i can afford to do this. London is soooo epensive!!
But yeah, that was a massive confidence boost!
I also enjoyed going around London by myself for the first time! i took some photos of the Havey Nichols windows in Knightsbridge, as i think they will relate to my FAC project, i think I'm going to make some paper cut outs of people and dress them in clothes that connote to a certain culture.

Last 20 credit module

Yes, we have been given our brief for our last 20 credit module, and i really really like the look of it, its on Metamorphosis.
We spent a full day yesterday playing and manipulating fabrics with the heat press, paint, wax etc, this is after all an interdisciplinary module, so i think it will be really fun. I think i need to plan a trip to te butterfly gardens in Roundhay, to get some photos, sketches etc.
I made some beautiful samples from the workshop that looked like moth and butterfly wings too.
I even knitted with some fabric, and did some of my own samples last night on the knitting machine i have just acquired.
Sorry for the lack of photos, by the way, in the last few blogs, i keep forgetting to take the camera out with me.
But today (well, this afternoon) I did my camera workshop at uni. learning how to use the studio lighting, SLR's and all that stuff. I didn't think it would interest me at all, but it turned out rather fun, and from now on i will know how to use the studios, so will be able to book a slot for my FAC project. Heres all the examples from the workshop too, although a lot got deleted :(

YEY!!!!!!!
I got my result back from my last project, and i got a FIRST!!!!!!! I got a 73 mark too, so I'm three over the 1st mark. I'm so pleased!!!! I had worked sooooooo hard for that project so its nice to know it does pay off!
Also, i have been offered three interviews in London for internships over summer! they are on the 16th and 23rd of march! One is with FELDER FELDER and up coming new label, German twin sister designers from London St.Martins (who are all over the vogue website at the moment),
Another with a girl Lena Santana, a Brazilian lady who works with really old recycled fabrics, table clothes, lace, curtain etc.
And finally, ALEXANDER McQUEEN!!!!!!!!!! I don't think i need to explain who he is! do i?!?
I'm really excited about all the opportunities, and i hope i at least get offered ONE place. I'm really excited (and rather scared) about going to London on my own, even for the interviews, but I'm sure i will be fine.
All in all, a very good week!

Up to date.
I have been fairly busy in the last couple of weeks, with my fashion art & culture project, critical studies etc. It does feel weird though, as we have a lot more time off at the minute than I'm used to.
Fashion art & culture has more of a direction now for me, at least i think. I've found it fairly hard to get into actually, when i thought it would come easily. I am looking at how cultures have mixed over time through advances in technology, travel and awareness. And i'm looking at how the divide between males and females in society is getting smaller, role reversals and equality. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do for my final piece though.
Critical studies wise...well what can i say? i don't really like it for a start, but I'm sure i'll get there in the end with my essay. I have chosen the question which i will try and answer; something about gender in relation to fashion, which i think connects nicely to my FAC project too.
